{"id":1106,"date":"2014-02-06T05:30:36","date_gmt":"2014-02-06T05:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/?page_id=1106"},"modified":"2014-02-11T06:08:45","modified_gmt":"2014-02-11T06:08:45","slug":"morgan-moments-view-from-morgan-bridge-in-the-1920s","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/sample-page\/bridges-roads-rails\/bridges\/morgan-moments-view-from-morgan-bridge-in-the-1920s\/","title":{"rendered":"View from Morgan Bridge in the 1920\u2019s"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Morgan Moments \u2013 View from Morgan Bridge in the 1920\u2019s<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_1105\" style=\"width: 941px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/contentdir\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Morgan-Bridge-c1923.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1105\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1105\" alt=\"Morgan Bridge Circa 1923\" src=\"http:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/contentdir\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Morgan-Bridge-c1923.jpg\" width=\"931\" height=\"555\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/contentdir\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Morgan-Bridge-c1923.jpg 931w, https:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/contentdir\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Morgan-Bridge-c1923-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/contentdir\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Morgan-Bridge-c1923-624x371.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 931px) 100vw, 931px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1105\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The 1913 to 1943 Morgan Bridge over Cheesequake Creek Looking North Northwest up the Jersey Central Traction Trestle toward Morgan Heights.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This remarkable photo was provided by noted New Jersey Historian and author of the book \u201cExplosion at Morgan,\u201d Randall Gabrielan.\u00a0 In the image you\u2019ll notice a number of interesting things, including (from left to right):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A bungalow on the top of the hill on day Cliff Avenue.\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe this structure is still standing.<\/li>\n<li>A huge road sign in the image of a book.\u00a0 On the left side is an ad for Perth Amboy (\u201c4 miles from here\u201d).\u00a0 On the right side is an ad for United States Tires (\u201cUnited States Tires Are Good Tires\u201d).\u00a0 US Tires was part of United States Rubber Company, one of the original 12 stocks listed on the Dow, later it was incorporated into Uniroyal in 1961 then into Michelin in 1990.<\/li>\n<li>The remains of the Jersey Central Traction Company\u2019s tracks across the bridge.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/sample-page\/bridges-roads-rails\/jersey-central-traction-company\/jersey-central-traction-co-trolley-trestle-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Jersey Central Traction (JCT) Company\u2019s trestle over the New York and Long Branch Railroad tracks<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Three houses on the Morgan Heights bluff, between paved Morgan Avenue and unpaved Cliff Avenue, all of which still stand.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You\u2019ll also notice a few things NOT in the photograph:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present day Route 35.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.morgan-nj.org\/blog\/sample-page\/morgans-people-places\/places\/the-robert-e-lee-inn\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cady\u2019s House of Sea Food<\/a> (Later the Robert E.
